Fast forward fourteen years, and we’re introduced to the latest model in an annually updated line of iPhones – the iPhone 13. With Apple’s latest addition expected in September of this year (2022), people are wondering whether the iPhone 14 will outdo its predecessor. Therefore, this is the perfect time to take a look at what the 13 really offers and ask whether or not you should be so quick to brush over it.
The iPhone 13
Apple’s latest output was released on the 24th of September, 2021, at an Apple event in California. The various models included in this generation of iPhones included the iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 13 Pro, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Each model differs in size and weight, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max offers the user a more varied photography experience. However, if you’re a casual iPhone user, you probably won’t notice the differences between the models apart from their respective sizes and weights.
The Tech Specs
The four models of the iPhone 13 have a lot in common, with some differences, of course. Some of the main features across the board include the screen sizes on each model, as even the Mini has received a small increase in size. The Pro Max has a 6.7-inch diagonal all-screen OLED display, while the Pro has a 6.1”, the Mini a 5.4”, with the 13 being the same size as the Pro. All four models are also water, splash, and dust resistant up to six meters deep for a maximum time of 30 minutes. The 13 and 13 Mini have a ceramic shield front and a glass back with an aluminum design. They are available in colors such as Blue, Pink, and Green and offer up to a maximum of 512 GBs. Meanwhile, the 13 Pro and Pro Max also have a ceramic shield front, but instead of a glass back with an aluminum design, they have a textured matte glass back with a stainless-steel design. These two models come in colors such as Sierra Blue, Gold, Graphite, and Alpine Green, and they each offer up to 1TB of storage. As far as cameras go, the Pro and Pro Max offer Apple’s Pro camera system the biggest upgrade ever with new hardware and software that is able to capture even more detail while introducing new photo and filmmaking techniques that will turn anyone into a pro. The Pro and Pro Max also come with macro photography capabilities; with its redesigned lens and powerful autofocus system, the new Ultra-Wide camera can focus at just 2cm, which makes even the smallest details seem epic. On top of that, it also has a new cinematic video mode that can turn anything you film into a potential work of art. The 13 and 13 Mini have similar camera capabilities, just slightly less than their Pro counterparts. Apple has introduced its new Ultra-Wide camera as well as its new sensor-shift optical image stabilization in these models and expanded them in the Pro models. Other technical aspects within the iPhone 13 range include Face ID technology, Apple Pay, and increased battery life across the board. Overall, the iPhone 13 range offers users a quality-filled experience.
Is the iPhone 13 Range Worth Buying?
While the 13 and 13 Mini do lack a few of the better attributes of the Pro and the Pro Max, it’s pretty evident from user reviews and a simple scroll through the features of each 13 model that this is one of Apple’s finer works. Its new display, larger battery, and better camera hardware and software have made this iPhone the new benchmark for flagship phones. This latest range from Apple has been made to be far more powerful than any Android competitor, with its 5G-ready A-15 Bionic chip making all the difference. As much as the iPhone 14 is set to be released soon, it wouldn’t be the worst decision to stick with your iPhone 13 Pro or even 13 Mini. If you’re considering buying an iPhone, you may even want to wait until the 14 does come out because then the 13’s price will inevitably drop, in which case you could possibly get a pretty good deal on a phone that will undoubtedly last you for years. Whatever you do, however, just look after it!
