1. Build your YouTube channel

The first thing you need to do is create a channel this is where you will be posting your videos. If you already have an account make sure you use keywords to help people find you, make sure your keywords are relevant to your content. Keep your username short and easy to remember or the same as your other social media account usernames if you’re already known elsewhere. You can also change your username if you feel you need a change. Keep in mind, you can only change your user name 3 times at maximum before you have to wait 90 days to change it again.

2. Start creating content and be known for something

Please be sure and certain of what you are creating and be known for it. Upload content that you will be able to maintain for a long period of time also ensure that your editing techniques are on point because visually appealing videos always do better. Have a captivating title, these will help drive people to your video from YouTube searches.

3. Get an audience and target the right one

The only way to make money is by building your audience. People need to watch your ads so that you can make money. Always keep uploading content and be consistent, interact with your viewers and connect with your YouTube community which will bring more members into your community.

4. Meet the requirements

You need at least 4,000 watch hours in the previous 12 months and 1000 subscribers to start earning money. If you want to monetize your videos click the monetization tab and checking the “Monetize with Ads” box. To monetize a video after it has been uploaded, open your Video Manager and click the money sign next to the video that you want to monetize. Check the “Monetize with Ads” box.

5. Set up Google AdSense

Set up Google AdSense for free at the AdSense website. Sign up by creating a new account, keep in mind you need to be of age which is 18 or else you will need an adult to help you set up. Make sure you have a valid PayPal or a bank account that’s functional.

6. Check your analytics

Click the Analytics option in your Channel menu. Here you can view estimated earnings, ad performance, video views, demographics and more. By knowing how your videos are performing you can work on what needs to be worked on so that you get more views.

7. Market your videos

Don’t just leave your videos on YouTube, share them on other social media platforms to get more views. You can also make a website or a blog where you can be sharing your videos which will increase your chance of getting noticed.
