There’s no doubt that everyone is desperately hoping that the Covid-19 vaccine will be found. Millions of people have lost their lives to the deadly virus and countries like U.S and U.K have been coming up with different vaccinations that proven to be up to 90% effective which is a lot better to work with than the current statistics we have. Hackers are trying to disrupt the progress. IBM issued a warning that hackers are trying to steal trade secrets and disrupt supply chains of the vaccine. The hackers have been targeting companies that have been involved in the efforts of distributing the vaccine to different countries for testing. This makes me question if the vaccine was from a bat or was it a man made virus? why would the hackers want to stop the vaccination from being used? Who is the target? So far IBM has warned the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union that holds the vaccine’s shipping records. The hackers are well-informed about the vaccine and managed to create booby-created emails sent in the name of an executive with Haier Biomedical, a Chinese firm that specializes in vaccine transport and biological sample storage. The hackers sent the emails to the targeted companies in hopes that they would click on the email links that would help the hackers spy on their computers so they would be able to phish out data.
