Instead, we find a 13MP + 5MP dual shooter, the 13MP comes with f/1.7 aperture that should excel in low light, and it is assisted by a 5MP f/1.9 camera that collects depth data to assist in pre and post background defocus, otherwise called Portrait mode / bokeh effect/ background blur. At the front we have a whopping 16MP selfie shooter with a f/1.9 aperture size and a front facing flash. Moving on to other specs, the 5.5 inch phone comes with Full HD (1080p) resolution and the color-popping Super AMOLED technology. Under the hood is where things get quite interesting, Samsung swapped its in-house Exynos 7870 that is found in the Galaxy J7 (2017) and the J7 Pro (2017) in favor of a Mediatek P20. The company has very few Mediatek devices in its arsenal, in fact, those chipsets are mostly reserved for budget oriented brands like Infinix and Tecno. Considering that the J+ cost $390, the chipset is might look misplaced, but is it? Looking at the benchmark results of both the Exynos 7870 that the J7 line has been using since 2016 and comparing it to the Mediatek P20, you will actually applaud the move to swap them. The Exynos 7870 gets an average score of 48,340 in Antutu while the Mediatek P20 blows it out of the water with a score of 64,770. As you can see, the Mediatek has the oomph that the Exynos can only wish for. The Exynos however has a reputation of being very energy efficient leading to super long battery life thanks to its 14nm built, well rest assured that the Mediatek got this part covered as well with a 16nm built (the lower then nm the better), the loss in 2nm is well balanced by the gain in raw processing power. In short, the P20 can ensure similarly good battery life plus a much higher performance than the Exynos 7870. The remaining specs include 3000mAh battery, which is 600mAh smaller than the one on the regular J7 2017. A fingerprint sensor resides on the front under the display leaving the aluminum rear hosting just the dual camera. Its running on Nougat with Bixby installed. The phone will be available in Thailand with other countries to follow shortly. The device is already available for pre-order with shipping starting on September 17TH. As earlier indicated the Galaxy J7+ goes for THB 12,900 (around $390)
