According to a release, the new SUV would be marketed in India as both Suzuki and Toyota models, respectively.  The new model will also be exported by the two automakers to various markets in Africa. Toyota will produce a strong hybrid with a bigger battery pack and an electric motor coupled to the fuel engine while Suzuki will have the mild hybrid  configuration. The new SUV, which will go by the name of Toyota Hyryder, will debut on July 1st. Maruti Suzuki’s version will soon follow. Both companies want to combine their respective capabilities while cutting expenses and development time. The two want to provide clients a wide range of vehicle electrification technologies, accelerate the electrification process, and realize a carbon-neutral society. “By leveraging the respective strengths of Toyota and Suzuki to provide Indian customers with a variety of options, we hope to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and realize a society where ‘no-one is left behind’ and ‘everyone can move freely.” said Akiyo Toyoda, President of Toyota.
